11 Month Sticker Pictures

 We'll just call Month Eleven the month of different faces.  It's hard enough to get the child to stay in the same general area to take his pictures, let alone to get him to smile.  His full personality decided to shine today :)

Eleven Months

New Developmental Milestones this Month: Andrew walks 5-6 steps in a row all day long, but he still isn't "walking" around.  His biggest accomplishment developementally is probably his ability to stand up in the middle of the room without pulling up on anything.  While he could do it before, it took him several tries to get it right.  He now does it over and over again.

• Here are the new age-appropriate developmental things that he can do: clap on command when he hears "yeahh," stand alone pretty well, throw small toys, drink from his sippy (woo hoo!), and shares objects with others.
• Verbally, Andrew loves to be LOUD!  He yells, grumbles, and talks a bunch these days.  Mamamama and Dadadada come out constantly, along with a bunch of other sounds.  He has a gremlin voice which is really funny and it sounds like he's speaking some made up language ("immature jardoning" according to What to Expect).  I've actually heard him say 'dog' several times.
• No new teeth.

Physical Growth this Month: On February 10th, he weighed exact 21 pounds when we took him to the doctors for roseloa.  We're still in the dark because we have a WELL baby (I thought I was never going to get to say that)!  Other than the three days of fever and three days of rash from roseloa, we have no germies at this house.  I'm assuming he's about the same size because he hasn't changed sizes.

Things Andrew likes (wow, everything is the same as month ten): Person: Aunt Melissa, Mommy, Daddy, Ms. Cindy at school, Places: the bathroom!, Activities: taking a bath/shower, swinging, being thrown in the air by dad, climbing up on anything and everything, Toys: his camera and books!

Things Andrew doesn't like: when Daddy stops playing with Andrew (he whines for more), when Mommy sets him down when he's tired (full crying fit), when he can't be in the shower/bath (he bangs on the door if someone is in there) and when something he is "into" is taken away (crying with crocodile tears).

Sleeping: Bedtime has gotten earlier this month because we've dropped the third nap completely.  He usually sleeps about 1-2 hours of naps at school and is bed by 7:30.  He sleeps through the night most of time time (up between 6-6:30 am). We also switched to nighttime diapers to stop the soaking clothes issue.

Eating: I thought I'd give you a full day in his life of eating so you could appreciate the sheer amount of food this little person consumes and then proceeds to burn off (because frankly, it isn't causing him to gain weight).

6:15 am, 7 oz bottle

7:15 am, Breakfast, 5 oz jar fruit/granola

8:15 am, cheerios, "breakfast" at school

10:30 am, 7 oz bottle or cup

12 noon, Lunch, 4 oz jar veggies, 1 c oatmeal w/formula, "lunch" from the school menu

2:30 pm, 7 oz bottle or sippy

4:00 pm, yogurt or apple sauce, puffs or cheerios

5:45-6 pm, Dinner, 6 oz jar meats, fruit cup, veggies, chicken hot dog, little crunchies

7:30 pm, 7-8 oz bottle (that would be a grand total of 28-29 oz a day)

Diapers: Still in size 3s--we've used another 256 diapers (1665 total in size 3).  He's wearing size 3 Huggies Overnights now too.

Clothing: No change from month eight, nine, or ten, Andrew is wearing all 6-9 month clothing with the exception of a few 12 month sleepers. I'm really over these clothes after five months, but the 9-12 month stuff looks so big on him.

Temper tantrums

Andrew has perfected the "I don't get my way so I'm going to fake cry" in the past week or so.  It doesn't really matter what it is that he wants (Kleenex, to be in the bathroom, the spoon, to bang on the wall, etc), but when you take it away or make him stop, he cries with full tears, whines, and sometimes screams.  If you're trying to hold him, he throws back his head and goes straight (impossible to hold).

Thankfully he is easily distracted and these "temper tantrums" only last about 1 minute.  He didn't want me to take away his play toy at this point to take a picture so he totally faked it.

A few seconds later, I gave back his play toy (pj's) and he continued on with peek-a-boo!

Grandma's Birthday

Back at the beginning of February (2/4), we celebrated Grandma Bennett's birthday!  Andrew enjoyed hanging out and we all had a fantasic lunch at Anchos Bar and Grill (even Andrew--he consumed a large amount of beans, tomatos, and tortilla pieces).

Play Hard

 We have a climber on our hands!  Anything and everything that Andrew can climb onto, he does.  These are from Sunday. 

 After the third time he got up and down from the wipe box, he thought he was invincible!

Aunt Nicole Visits

This past weekend, I had Friday and Monday off for President's Day.  It was nice to be able to spend four full days with Andrew after being gone for the Academy conference for four days.

On Saturday, Nicole came to visit (she was already in San Diego helping her mom after shoulder surgery)!  We spent an hour or so at the park and Andrew had a ball playing, climbing, and swinging!

Valentine's Recap

Because I was gone on Valentine's Day for the Academy Conference in Sacramento, we celebrated early.  On Saturday, we went to Chipolte for dinner and Cherry on Top for dessert.  Andrew loved the black beans and sort of liked the frozen yogurt.

 I made Andrew's daycare teachers a goody bag with chocolate, note cards, and one of Andrew's Valentines pictures (from Valentine's Day post).  Dave delivered them faithfully on Tuesday.

 As part of our new traditions, Andrew got his Valentine's Day LOVE BUG!  It is pretty darn funny looking, but it has a backpack zipper part to add treats and goodies.  The arms hold a card or other goodies too :)

 The idea is that he'll get it every year (sort of like the basket from the Easter Bunny, or the stockings from Santa) from his love, Mommy.

 Inside Andrew's love bug this year was a new sippy with a straw (not that he'll use any of the five other kinds we have, but it can't hurt to try another kind).

 Although Mommy wasn't home, Daddy did get Andrew into his Valentine's Day outfits both Monday and Tuesday.

Ten Months old!

New Developmental Milestones this Month: Andrew is now crawling and cruising with great speed.  Last Thursday (2/2), Andrew stood unassisted for the first time.  On Saturday (2/4), he walked his first two steps from me to Melissa!  He isn't "walking," but we're close.

• Here are the new age-appropriate developmental things that he can do: object if you take something away, exchange back-and-forth gestures with you, clap his hands, climb up using his arms and legs (including stairs) and stand alone momentarily.
• Verbally, Andrew still doesn't babble regularly, but when he does, he is loud.  He often says "eeeeee" when he wants something.  He has used baby-sign to say "more" and "eat" several times.
• His top left tooth popped through on Sunday (2/5).  The right one made its appearance yesterday (2/8) with a fever.  The fang teeth are close too.

Physical Growth this Month: No idea because for the first time since he was three months old, we didn't go to the doctor's a single time!!  I don't think he's gained that much weight or grown much length, because all of his 6-9 month clothes still fit.

Things Andrew likes:

• Person: Aunt Melissa, Mommy, Daddy, Ms. Cindy at school
• Places: the bathroom!
• Activities: taking a bath/shower, swinging, being thrown in the air by dad, climbing up on anything and everything
• Toys: his camera and books!

Sleeping: He sleeps through the night most of time time (8 pm-6:30 am). If he does wake up, it is with screaming like he's scared or his diaper is soaking through his clothes.

 

Andrew and I both stayed home sick today.  I think Mommy has something flu-ish and the verdict is out if Andrew's fever is just his teeth or if he has a virus.  We both had our flu shots, so I'm hoping this is short lived.  I'm not going to torture the cranky, feverish baby with his official month picture (with the sticker) until this weekend, so for now, look closely at the bottom picture and you can see the top two teeth peeking out of the gums.  The left one is 100% out already and the right one is about 75% out (after yesterday).

Eating: Andrew has started to decrease his formula intake; he still has 4 bottles, but only takes 4 oz or so in the morning and has 3-7 oz bottles through the rest of the day.  He now eats a significant amount of table food.  At school, he eats breakfast (cereal/waffles/pancakes/fruit) and lunch from the school menu (fruit/veggies) in addition to one baby food jar and oatmeal for lunch.  For dinner, he usually has one 4 oz jar of baby food (usually meat based), fresh veggies and fruit of some kind, crunchies or puffs, and bites of whatever we're eating.  He don't really like normal meat, but he loves the gross Gerber chicken links (like hot dogs) and chicken nuggets without the coating.  He also had his first pizza this month!  The child will pretty much eat anything.

Diapers: Still in size 3s--we've used another 256 diapers (1408 total in size 3).  He's leaking out at night 2-3 times a week, so we're going to have to try something different for nighttime.

Clothing: No change from month eight, Andrew is wearing all 6-9 month clothing with the exception of a few 12 month sleepers. I'm really over these clothes after five months, but the 9-12 month stuff looks so big on him.

Life

Sorry I've been MIA the past three weeks.  Life has been a bit overwhelming and I'm trying to recover.  I've had finals at school, my wisdom teeth out, new semester start, and a whole lot of technology support for others. 

Andrew is doing very well.  I promise to get his ten month update done.
