A Picture Tour, Day 1 San Francisco

Melissa and I packed everything we needed into our little suitcases and backpacks and Mom dropped us off at the San Diego airport at 6:45 am. Check-in and security took a total of nine minutes, so here we sat for another hour and a half reading our books. The flight was uneventful, our luggage came out of the tourstyles quickly, and we're off. First adventure of the day was the Airtram that took us from the airport to the BART station.
From the airtram, we had to get on the BART to take us to Fisherman's Wharf. We bought tickets and waited for the right train to come. Here is when the read adventure started. We got off the BART at the Embaradero station, hiked up the stairs and found ourselves in busy San Francisco. Finding the bus station was easy, we knew we were suppose to get on bus 10. Being excited to "go" as soon as the bus got there, we jumped on and give the bus driver our $2 each.
Too bad we didn't look at the bus number! After ten blocks or so, we realize that we aren't going the right way and Melissa asks the man standing over her which bus we're on... 5! Clearly this bus has taken us into a un-tourist area that didn't look too safe. Without a bus map, or really any clue, where we are, Melissa and I ride a few more stops laughing and trying to decide what to do. At one stop I see a police officer and we quickly got off the bus; he was helpful and told us where we were and said we'd need to get back on the 5 bus to go back to Market to get on the 10 or F. We got back on the 5, needless to say, it went a different way back to the transit center where they told us we HAD to get off, what, wait?!? I don't know where I am?!? A very nice teenager gave us directions and told us ONLY to get on the F bus. Got on, the F bus driver was very nice and got us to our hotel--Finally!! (Melissa with the Holiday Inn, finally in sight)
Exhausted by this point, we ate at Denny's in the hotel and picked up multiple maps to figure out where we were going! (We were never again without many maps!) Walking around seeing the sights! Spent a hour in the Boudin Sourdough Museum and ate lots of free taster bread. Decided to purchase a two-day pass for the hop on-hop off double decker bus tour. At this point, we realized that we were going to be cold... Because of the frigid wind and cold air, we bought matching pink snow jackets for $17.99. These jackets are in every store and at first, I thought it was wierd, quickly, I realized they must make more money on the jackets than they do on anything else. Our hotel was two blocks from the Ghirardelli's square where we ate the most amazing Mint-Chip Ice Cream (twice)!

Not wanting to end the evening yet, we headed over to Pier 39. Here with the sea lions :) With all of the authentic seafood resturants, we settled on Hard Rock for a late dinner.
Walking home at 10 pm we decided that it was freezing, found a Walgreens and purchased gloves for the following nights. I was sound asleep by 10:15 in the very comfrontable beds!
