Big changes are coming to a life near you.
Feelings of insecurity and feelings of confidence come and go as the day progresses. Faces change, locations change, policies change, relationships change, but I feel the same. Some things are so similar they could be twins, some are close enough to be related, some are so different they must be from different countries. It is like speaking American English in England; lots can be lost in translation, but no one realizes that things are being "lost."
Another school year arrives tomorrow.
This school will be closer to my first day at Central in 2005, than last year's first day. My first day at Arlington HS is tomorrow. I am prepared with syllabi, discipline contracts, 'get-to-know-you' activities, a PowerPoint all about the teacher... my classroom is decorated with color and personality, the desks are organized (all 42 of them), and I have my first-day-of-school outfit ironed (yes, mom, I ironed!).
Although I have no idea which class I'll be teaching second period (very, very long story from last week), I'll figure it out.
My calm, established relationship network at Central will be missed as I continue to build relationships with my new co-workers.
Pray for me tomorrow, I'm not "good" at being a new teacher as much as I want to be...
